Outreach Endowment Fund

How it works

An endowment fund is a permanent financial asset designed to support those in need in our parish through a steady income stream from the invested principal.

These funds will allow us to continue our mission and activities even during economic fluctuations.

The Gift

Your contribution is added to the "Principal." This money is never spent; it is invested for growth.

The Investment

Managed by the Catholic Foundation, the fund earns income. We target a 5% annual distribution.

The Impact

Every year, in perpetuity, the earnings are used to support those in need in our parish community.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an endowment fund?

An endowment fund is a permanent pool of money invested to generate income for a specific purpose. The principal amount remains intact, while the earnings are used to support the parish’s ongoing needs.

How can I support the endowment fund?

When individuals, families or organisations contribute to the parish outreach endowment fund, they add to the corpus of the fund, which means the disbursements grow, year on year. Parishioners can make a single donation, set up a monthly deduction, or include the parish endowment in their Will.

How much money is needed to start an endowment fund?

Our parishioners have helped to establish the endowment fund with an initial investment of $2000 with disbursements commencing when we reach $50,000. Our aim is to grow the corpus of the fund over time, ensuring a viable income stream for the parish for many generations to come.

How is our endowment fund managed?

The Catholic Foundation manages the establishment and administration of endowment funds. This outreach endowment is held under the Hardship Relief Fund which is a charitable trust established to protect these assets and maintain them permanently. Donations to the endowment fund are tax-deductible.

What are the benefits of an endowment fund?

The parish outreach endowment is a fund which provides a distribution of earnings to the parish each year in perpetuity. Gifts to the endowment fund build the corpus and increase the annual distribution ensuring an ongoing stream of funding. This fund will help those who are struggling, whether it’s paying bills, putting food on the table, or affording an education for their children.

Unlike regular donations that are spent immediately, this endowment is invested for growth, ensuring that the principal remains untouched while 5% of the fund’s balance is distributed annually to support those in need. As the fund grows over time through donations and investment returns, the annual distributions will increase, creating a permanent source of financial assistance for our parish community. As the Fund grows through new contributions over time, greater support is available for the sacramental and community outreach work of the parish.
